The multicultural and internationally renowned Bay Area Storytelling Festival brings the magic of storytelling to Santa Rosa at the Sonoma
Academy on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th. Jointly sponsored by Bay-Area-based arts organizations Storytelling Association of California and Six Feet Apart Productions, the Festival is both in person, as well as being streamed virtually.
The West Coast’s oldest storytelling festival, with a history of over 30 years, the 2024 celebration features five award-winning, internationally celebrated professional storytellers. Hawai’i’s State Poet Laureate Kealoha, Japanese storyteller Karin Amano, Native American storyteller Gene Tagaban, along with the Bay Area’s Diane Ferlatte and Brandon Spars, will headline the Festival.
Starting Friday at 4PM with Kealoha’s film, “The Story of Everything” followed by a Q&A, then an hour dinner break, 6:30 to 8:30PM features Sunset Stories with Kealoha, Karin Amano, Gene Tagaban, and Brandon Spars.
Saturday, begins at 9:00 am. The full-day’s schedule offers three storytelling concerts, joint and solo shows, a workshop, a youth concert, and workshops, ending at 6:30 pm.
