Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has purchased a modern estate in a 90210 gated community, and while it is not known how much the rock star paid, the house was last listed for $11.5 million. The home was designed Roger Kurath of Design 21 for the previous owner and builder Roland Schaellibaum, and it was constructed in 2017. The four bedroom, five bathroom residence is brimming with modern, environmentally friendly amenities and strong design elements.
Solar panels on the roof harness the sun’s power to heat the pool and the home’s floors. Overall, the estate is half powered by the panels, while a green roof insulates the home. Gold geometric panelling enlivens the steel and glass facade, and inside, delivers sun rays in the unique shapes cut out of the panels. Those steel panels and triple-paned windows, which have been treated for fire resistance, are constructed to ensure that the house won’t move when earthquakes hit—an ideal amenity for Southern California living. The entire property is beautifully landscaped with succulents and the copious floor-to-ceiling windows allowing residents to take in the glorious plants from many of the home’s rooms and common spaces.

Beyond eco-friendly features, the 7,741 square foot home has plenty to offer an owner who wishes to host parties and gatherings. Views of the canyon and the city abound from the 40 foot infinity pool and jacuzzi, and for a more intimate experience, a lounge area surrounding a fire pit is located in a more secluded area of the backyard. Indoors, a wine cellar and a home theater add even more opportunities to woo guests. Numerous spacious balconies on the second floor will allow Simmons and his family to appreciate the gorgeous surrounding environs from upstairs, too.
The listing was held by Tomer Fridman of The Fridman Group at Compass. The purchase comes a year after Simmons put his longtime Los Angeles home on the market and told AD he was moving his family “to a state that is much more welcoming.” (He was referring to Washington state, though it is unclear if Simmons actually owns property there.)
