NSQ appearance at NAM Opening Reception

You’re invited to a celebration of two important new exhibitions at the Newport Art Museum!

Celebrate the solo exhibition of acclaimed Iranian American artist Arghavan Khosravi, and the group exhibition of female-identifying artists titled Unfinished Business.

Khosravi creates evocative works of art that interrogate ideas of freedom, agency, and identity by combining aspects of Surrealism and Persian miniature painting. At the core of these issues is the role of women in both Iranian and American society.

The artists in Unfinished Business explore important themes such as climate change, women’s rights, colonialism, heritage, oppression, conflict, language, art history, the body, surveillance, and racial, gender, religious, and ethnic identity.

Special this night, the Newport String Quartet will perform a contemporary musical work accompanied by a video element titled Daughters of Sol, by Iranian composer Aftab Darvishi. (6 minutes)
