HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
With just one month until the Newport Gulls return for the 2022 NECBL Season, the organization is in need of local families to host players throughout the summer. These collegiate student-athletes arrive on June 5 and will be in Newport until the end of the season in the first week of August.
The Gulls play 44 games during that time period and players have many obligations during the morning and daytime such as our Elementary School Reading Program, Middle School Visits, and Summer Camp which span from the first few days they are here, until the second to last week in July. In short, they are very rarely home.
Laundry services are provided for the players to have their uniforms cleaned after each game, but there is no locker room at the field. Post-game meals are also provided to players after each of their games, home and away. All players have been vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to their arrival in Newport and have provided proof of vaccination to the team and league.
Some players will have cars but for the ones that do not, a carpool system is setup so that a teammate of theirs can pick them up for all team-related functions.
Host Families receive season tickets for the entire family to all NECBL Games, home and away, Gulls gear, complimentary summer camp registration for children, and invitations to team functions throughout the summer.
Players come from some of the most highly regarded colleges and universities throughout the country and have been recruited not only based on their baseball skills but more importantly on who they are as young men. If you have any trips planned then arrangements can be made for them to stay elsewhere during your time away if it would make your family more comfortable, but the Gulls stand by the character of these young men.
